This message is a reply to a previous concern with the oil inlet tube seal in a ford 801 diesel 172 cid engine . The price for this small rubber seal is mind boggling .That
seal cannot cost more than .15 cents to manufacture-and here
we are paying $32 with delivery.I’ll tell you what I did because
I refuse to give in . If the oil pick up tube fits snug in the rubber
grommet you can re use it. If the seal feels hard, take it out ,
clean the oil from it , put it in a small ziplock bag and spray
some silicone lubricant on it , seal it and let it sit for 10 days .
The seal will become pliable and your tube should fit nice and
tight when you put it back. You may re spray silicone on day 5
