Hi, just got an old 4500 for free! First time tractor owner. Lovin it!

I have been able to find a bunch of serial numbers / stampings around the tractor. Not sure which serial number will tell me the year of the tractor. also, where can i find a chart that represents the characters of the serial number.

Also, i need to replace the 4 hoses for the backhoe. who can recommend a website, store that sells these exact hoses?

Thanks.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

The backhoe should have a lot more than 4 hoses. I don't think anyone would have the original hoses in stock these days. You would probably need to remove them from the tracrtor and take them to a local hydraulics shop or tractor dealer to get new ones made up to match.

First place to look is on the underside of the right side hood panel, up above the battery. If the original foil sticker is there then all the numbers you need are right there. If the sticker is no longer there or is no longer legible, then the Model Number, Unit Number (production date code) and Tractor Number (serial number) are also stamped into the flat spot just above and slightly toward the rear of the tractor from the starter.

The model number for a 4500 should start withe either 450 or D50. The next character would be a 1 if it has a diesel engine or a 2 if it has a gas engine. The last 2 characters would tell us which transmission and PTO options it has.

It's hard to see because of the loader frame but the numbers your looking for are hand stamped on top of the clutch housing just behind the starter

Should look something like in the photo I've included.

TractorData.com is a site where one can find the serial number breaks to see what year model the tractor is, to find out the other info on the tractor list those numbers here.

As for hoses the only place that made exact replacements was Ford and those haven't been available for some time.

Simplest is to remove the hose and take it or them to the hydraulic repair shop and have new ones made to fit.
