Not mine, etc. On facebook market, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Listed as project, for 1000. Early 4000AP 3 cyl with louvered hood.

It's listed as a "Ford 4000". Yes, the location dot is at the intersection of Mackinaw Trail and 6 Mile Rd.

(quoted from post at 18:09:02 09/08/20) Thanks. I finally found it. Sent the seller a message.
ounds to me like one of those worth the cents per pound of scrap iron times its weight, especially with that transmission!

Seller says it runs and moves, but they haven't actually used it, so they dont know if all gears are good.
After checking just how far away it is, I think Luke will pass on it... trucking would be too much.

Your comment reminds me of the story the
seller told me when I bought my 4200.
Gas, SOS, NF, poor rears, was in a barn
fire and wouldn't start any more.
He asked a tractor jocky what it was
worth as a trade-in.
Jocky just asked, "What does it weigh?"

(quoted from post at 11:25:52 09/08/20) When he said "early", he meant an early 3-cylinder version with the louvered hoods, built from '65 to '68.

Gracious! Now there's 3 of 'em? Rolling my eyes!

There's always been two official versions of the 3 cylinder thousand series tractors. Look at the first few pages of a Ford Service Manual where they go through identifying the model and finding the various date codes and serial numbers. There's an entire second section dedicated the "New models" which started production 4/1/68 and that section references the differences between them and the "previous models" which were the ones made before that date, and it even says that some "previous" models were made up to date code 8G19B (July 19 1968). I have actually seen evidence of this with a couple of tractors made between 4/1/68 and 9/18/68 that still had the louvers on the hood and wraparound grill, and also still had the first character in the model number as a numeral instead of a letter, and the engine serial number started with the old L, N or P letters instead of the A, B or C letters. I even saw a 4000 gasser made between those two dates that had the 192 ci engine instead of the 201 and all of the other "previous model" sheet metal and identifying markings, but the Unit Number and a couple of the other component date codes were after 4/1/68.

This next bit is only a guess, but I think they may have continued to make the "previous models" for those few months because they were in the middle of filling some fleet orders on the change over date and finished making the tractors for those orders as "previous model" tractors so they would all match when they were delivered. Or maybe they just had enough of the previous style sheet metal and engines that already had the old style serial number stamped into them that the just used them up instead of disposing of them.
