General Question on over heating

Have a friend who just bought a JBC 4.236 backhoe and since I am always working on my Ford tractors he
asked me a question I could not answer. It is regarding over heating.

He indicates that once he starts the tractor in 5 minutes or so, it overheats and spews water with a
lot of pressure. He checked the thermostat and water pump and they seem to be working. So question
is , what else can he check for??????

As always, thank you in advance for you assistance. David

Radiator cap is spring loaded to release under certain pressures - it may be weak.
A partially collapsed/kinked suction line will result in overheating, as will a blocked radiator. If you can squeeze the suction hose closed with your finger, replace it - with one that has the wire spiraled inside.
If the temp gauge spikes or pegs hot, the primary culprit is typically the thermostat and if you go to the trouble to pull it - change it.

have him fill the radiator all the way up to the neck... and keep some extra water in a container to add... start engine with cap off... keeping water level at the neck, full... and if bubbles keep coming out,,, again, keeping the water level at the top of the neck.... so you can see any bubbles.....its a blown gasket or cracked head... rev it up and see lots of bubbles...

also may have oil in water,, and or water in the oil... as well as the bubbles in the radiator.
