Ford 3930 and 8'' disc mower

I've got a Ford 3930 with front loader. Question is will it handle a 6 disc 8' Galfre disc mower? Most of hay ground is very level. Thanks.

I suppose it depends on the model, some are heavier than others. But I think at best it'll be at the upper limits of the tractor.

I don't know the weight of your mower, nor how disc vs drum support the weight on the 3 pt but I run a Tar River 6' drum on my 3910 with about 150-200#,
on the front grille guard. No problem keeping the left front tire on the ground....as far as lift capability, plenty of power and height.

(quoted from post at 13:25:01 09/01/20) I guess need to know if I have enough HP. 50 HP is what it is rated.

Nebraska tests on the 3930 only got 45.85 hp at the PTO at rated engine speed, and only 43.65 at rated PTO speed.

not familar with that model disc cutter, I am going to say NO. My disc cutter is trying to turn my tractor to the right,,, due to the drag and weight. and makes the front end light when I pick the disc cutter up for transport.... and thats on a ford 4 cy.. So again,, my guess is "no".... bad input, bad output. sorry.

HP is a moot point for a drum. I guess since a disc has numerous heads to gear drive, it probably is a consideration....but don't know as I never ran one.
When I bought my first drum I was looking for an alternative cutter to a sickle. I looked at discs not knowing that the drum style existed. Every used disc I
found for sale, and there were numerous of different colors, had brazing repairs in numerous places on the underside, some leaking again-still and the
cutter heads and all the working parts were all rusted up.

A few around here run a 7 ft doc mower on a 4630 but weight wise it's loaded.
Brother was running the 5600 with a 8 ft Kuhn, making a left turn in the field with the bar about 3 ft off the ground, right rear tire dropped into a small dip and the tractor layed over on it's side.
He wasn't hurt and no damage to tractor or mower but it was a scary moment.
Personally I think a 8 ft disc mower is to much for a 3930 or 4630 but I only run trailed mowers now and run a 9 footer behind the 5600.

Don't know that brand but IMHO weight and lift should be ok. In light cutting power might be ok but if you're cutting in heavy wet down material you're gonna run out of power. A 5 disc 7' cut might be a better fit for your tractor. MHG

I have run a 7'10" Kuhn disc mower on my 3910 2 wheel drive, without a loader, quite successfully, on both level ground and steep.
If mowing side slope, keep cutter bar on uphill side.
If mowing up & down, mow only down!
A little bit cumbersome, but will do the job!
HTH, YMMV, Dave

Farmer down the road usually runs his discbine with a 8700. The
tractor went down with a fuel pump issue. Had a 5000 run the cutter.
Did it but was grunting really good. I had a 3910 nice tractor but not
big enough for what you want to do in my opinion.

3930 got pressed into service with disc mower Friday evening. Did it's job. Field was pretty level and hay was thick. Good to have a back-up.
