Ford 4500 noise bearing pieces from rear end

Hi all, I have recently acquired a 1969 Ford 4500 diesel industrial tractor with backhoe and loader. It is a strong running tractor. Trouble, the rear end was noisy when I was driving it right away. I checked fluids and the rear end was basically empty. I replaced the torn brake rod seal and refilled with oil. Drove a little, still noisy and leaking from brake shaft seals. I drained the rear end and to my horror chunks of bearings came out with oil. Any idea which bearing chunks came from? Possible to access without splitting tractor? I am moderately mechanical.
Thank you for your help!!

Yes. Drop hoe, Tie 2 hoses that supply hoe, plug 1 going to loader subframe. Drop rear of subframe, pull wheels and trumpets and split between trans and R/A center hsg. Will be able to see where metal came
from.

Thanks for your help! I have a big repair manual for it, shows transmissions, clutch, but I can't find anything about the rear end. Thanks again, Ken
