Ford 4000 SOS PTO

Very common on the SOS transmission tractors for the PTO to spin when not engaged and not attached to anything. My 4000 has the optional ground speed and 1000 pto option. Would it cause any problem to leave the lever set for ground speed pto? That would keep the pto from turning when the tractor is stopped, motor running and implements are being attached to the 3 point or drawbar. I don't think this should cause any problems?

That would work. Or, you could put the 540/1000 lever in neutral. The shaft still might spin very slowly, but it wouldn't have enough power
to hurt anything or anyone.
