Ford 5000 Diesel Fuel Line Help

My son and I have bee working to get our Ford 5000 select-o-speed diesel up and running after it's being dormant for many years. We replaced the fuel tank shut off valve and when attempting to reconnect the fuel line I kinked it. Didn't seem cracked but I figured I'd replace it anyway. Upon further inspection the line itself appears to have been made from copper tubing (not magnetic and I'm sure not factory original) with the sleeve from a compression nut pressed on the end. It appears as if this was done in an attempt to simulate a bubble flare. I can't seem to find this fuel line anywhere, might not be searching it correctly. It's the line between the tank and priming pump. Any insight as to what exactly this type of flare is, where I can find the correct line or what I can use to make one would be appreciated. Thanks.

If I'm remembering right, been a few years.

My 5000 is a 71, used 5/16 line running from the shutoff to the filter. It had the compression nut and ferrule at the shut off like yours. Couldn't get it to seal any
more, had to replace.

I used 5/16" steel brake line for a replacement. I know I had to order some 5/16 compression ferrules from ebay, all I could find locally was 1/4 or 3/8.

Reused the nut.

Thanks for the info, that's what whoever replaced the line previously appears to have done. Did you put a slight flare on the ends of the line to prevent the ferrule from falling off during installation or did you just hold everything fast while turning in the nut?

I found an outfit on ebay who manufactures different lengths of rubber fuel line using what appears to be the correct fittings on each end but I'm hesitant to order one without being sure.
