Will this Engine fit a 3000 Diesel?

Friend has a ford 3000 diesel that has a bad engine and also has a Ford 4000 (from what is left of decal, havent ran numbers to verify) row crop diesel with a good engine but not worth fixing the rest. He wants to swap the 4000 engine into the 3000. Will it work? If so, what mods or rearrangements are required if any ? I noticed the hydraulic pumps mount differently. The 4000 row crop has the vents in the hood so it is an older model (late 60s) where the 3000 is newer than that.

It's a straight built-in. The 3000xs
hydraulic pump needs to stay with it, of
course, but that just a couple more bolts
to put it on the 4000's engine.
Just be aware that you'll be running more
power through the rear end than it was
designed to handle, long term. Dont abuse
it, and if should be ok.
What's wrong with the 4200 (4000 rowcrop)
that it isnt worth repairing? I'd love to
have one of them.

Perhaps when you fit 4000 engine into the 3000
there could be unexpected problems
If I was in the same position I would look at selling
the 4000 and using funds towards overhauling
3000 engine

The 4000's engine will fit with no issues, you will have the use the 3000's clutch and flywheel, pull the plate off of the 4000's engine to see if the cam gear is there to drive the hydraulic pump, if not he can swap the one out of the 3000 engine while he has the flywheel off.
That model 4000 engine is 45 hp and close to the same power as the later 3000 engine, he may notice slightly more torque due to the longer stroke.

Where is that 4200 located? I have some friends that would be interested in any of the left over parts.

wow..that would make the 3000 a 4000su.... or 4000lcg....

Will need to use the flywheel/clutch from the 3000 most likely...

Everything from the 3000 will fit, your going to need the flywheel from the 3000. Whats wrong with the transmission on the 4000? Is it for sale?

We put a 4000 engine onto a 3000 trans and rear end and it has a lot more power. The engine came from a Ford 4500 with 4x4 transmission.
