Rear wheel weights Ford 3000

I am new to the tractor world, as I just purchased my first tractor, a 1970 Ford 3000, a few months ago. I would like to add rear wheel weights to my tractor. Though I havent a clue about weights and how they mount. From pictures I have viewed online, it appears that some weights (stackable) attach to the rims and others like pie weights mount to a ring that mounts to the lugs? I see for-sale adds, for Ford wheel weights on Craigslist but dont what, I need to measure on my rim, to make a purchase. Any help/knowledge, on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I have 14.9-28 rear tires on my tractor.

I don't think they still made pie weights when the 3 cylinder thousand series was made, but if your has the stock 28" wheels then the pie weights for the earlier 4 cylinder tractors should work. The stackable ring weights are what the 3000 would have had installed by a dealer at the time it was new. Which ring weights it needs depends on whether it has manual adjust wheels or power adjust.

Here is the weights that came on my 3000. (three Ford MOCO rings, 80lbs. per. ring on each rear.)

The power adjust rims have 4 rails diagnial on inside rim and have spacer with 9 lugs outside with 8 inside. Non adjust are just 6 loop rims.

Here is what the power adjust rims look like on my 871 gold demo. They are secured to rails using 4 bolts. If your rim has 6 bolts connecting rim to center disc than it's a standard 6 loop rim.

A couple of photos of wheels I grabbed
off the internet.

Manual adjust.

If you have manual adjust, also called
looped rims, there are many more styles
of weights. Here are a couple.

3 piece weights.

Here are two types of weights.
One piece and pie weights

Also there are a couple types of
stackable weights. GBMT showed you one.
Some weights bolt to the wheel center.
Some bolt to the loops.
The ones that bolt to the loops will fit
all 28" Ford rims from the 1939 9N
through the 1982 3600 and in some cases
beyond.

Yes, appears to be Heavy Duty weights. What is shown is not a complete set. Missing the apter nuts. Expect to pay between $6/$12 each for them. X 16

Also something to consider with this set, at least from what I can see from your photo, is that there is no valve stem cutout pie segment. If your valve stem is located on the outside where you will be
mounting the weights than you would have to leave one pie off for the valve stem. Look at my photo for cutout.

Thanks, Kirk

I am picking up the set of pie weights I posted, tomorrow morning for $300. I also found the 16 lug extenders for just over $102 with tax & delivery. Thanks to all, who took their time to share their knowledge on the wheel weights with me.
