The original subject was "Re: Select o Speed Input Shaft Removal".
I realize this is an old post. If anyone is still out there on this matter I would appreciate any assistance.
I've got the stripped clutch hub. The input shaft is worn but not totally stripped. So I want to fix it right while I've got it split, so will find a shop to probably machine the hex socket method.
My question is on removing the input shaft via the tip up method. What r the steps for removing the shaft? I can hoist the unit vertical and its resting on the wheels. and then once the pump cover is removed, does the input shaft simply slide up and out? Do I need a puller or is it basically free?
Thanks much.
