Morning ....

Just replaced the sediment bowl on my '47. The old bowl was really dirty, etc., but it started well and ran well.

Now with the new Bowl.....it's hard starting and only runs for about one minute and then dies out. Carb is also now very-very wet.

Any ideas ?

Thx....Mike

Model year is unimportant -ALL N's used the same fuel system. Chances are your Sediment Bulb Assembly only needed to be cleaned and a new valve installed. Don't judge by how dirty the external part is. Probable NO-GO fuel issue causes are: plugged vent, plugged screens, plugged sediment bulb, dirty gas tank, dirty carb, and more. There are three OEM screens in the fuel system. Two are on the Sediment Bulb Assembly; the 3rd is on the brass elbow inside the carb where the fuel line connects to. SEE PICTURES. I wouldn’t be shoving anything, wires especially, up into the sediment bulb assembly. You have a vertical fine mesh screen on the inlet port inside the tank that you can damage. Best solution is to remove the tank and thoroughly clean. Perform the fuel flow test first before buying any new parts. The valve is a $6 part. I advise to put a dab of Lock-Tite on the new valve stem knob screw as they are prone to falling out in the field and losing the knob. If carb is flooded thru air intake port at rubber hose, float may be stuck.
