I am working on a 1978 Ford 5600 4-cyl diesel and need some help with the Alternator wiring. There's a small gauge wire dangling near the alternator and it has a flat
spade connector with a right angle black rubber boot - similar to that used on the large red wire to the battery. The alternator will not charge unless I jumper a wire
from the batt to the Field terminal. There are three wires currently connected to the alternator: 1) Large Red Batt wire, 2) Field wire, and 3) a black Gnd wire.
I was hoping someone might be able to post a picture of their 5600's alternator showing the wiring.
TIA!
