I'll try and make this as short as possible with hopefully all the pertinent information.
I have a 55' 861 with a TSX593 that up until this spring ran like a top. Would start by barely touching the starter button. Not so much this year. I had a harder time firing it up this spring, so I started the diagnosis stage. I found the bolt threads in the lower bowl of the carb leaking and noticed the bowl was actually cracked on both sides. It was beyond repair by the time i figured it out. I jumped online looking for a replacement carb. I found one thru an AG store and ordered it. When the box showed up, i pulled out a TSX976. I called them right away and they said itll work no problem. I doubted it because it didnt have the load adjustment screw anywhere, but I'm no expert, so i gave it a try. The tractor would fire up, but stumble under load just as I thought it might. In the meantime I stumbled across a lower for a TSX706 and attached it to my original 593 upper thinking it should work just fine. Now everytime I try to start the tractor it turns over and over then backfires very loudly, then starts right up and seems fine until I shut it off. Sometimes I have to pull the hose off the choke end and put my hand over the carb to get it to start. I haven't sent the other carb (976) back yet as I want to be positive it wont work, but again I'm no expert. I'm at a loss of what's happening here and I need this tractor as it has my loader on it and I'm beginning a new barn project. Any help would be magnificent! Thanks
