Recently bought an 860 172 c.i., ran very rough did some research and changed out
3/16 i.d. fuel line for 1/4 i.d. that helped, got it running pretty good although not
under load, it sat over the winter and then wouldn't start, sent carb to carb shop,
now it will start and run for maybe half a minute to a minute then die, returned to
carb shop got it back with same problem. Seems to be starved for fuel?? Don't think I
have air leaking. The carb is MS tsx593 seems right for 172 ci. Any help of ideas is
greatly appreciated, I'm stumped!!!!! Thanks Doug

Sounds like the sediment bulb and/or screen within the fuel tank is clogged with debris.

Remove the drain plug in the carburetor float bowl and check for adequate flow.
