174 Carburator

Got 2 174 engines, rebuilt both carbs, float valves leak! Put the old float valve back in and set the height, that one is ok. Brass floats are ok.
Takes a week to overflow the carb bowl and flood out. Am I missing something or are the kits just krap?

Did the rebuild kit have the viton tipped needle for the float valve? If so, then yes, several people have had similar issues with those. If the original needles are still in good shape, then re-use them.

By the way, none of my references mention a 174 cubic inch engine ever being made for a Ford tractor. There was the 4 cylinder 172 ci used in the hundred series, '01 series and early thousand series tractors from 1955-1964, and then there was a 3 cylinder 175 ci engine used in 3xxx series tractors starting in 1965.
