Hello
I have a 4610. Runs for @ 30 minutes and then slowly gets tougher to turn then BAM, my steering locks up. And when I say locks up, it locks up hard, 0.0% play in the steering wheel.
Let it cool down overnight, back to normal.
I have replaces pump, filter. When it's locked up both cylinders move freely.
Problem is in the column. There is a flathead set screw, in side of steering box. Any ideas on how to adjust ?
Anyone else have this issue. What should I replace first, steering column bushing? I'm in a bind and need to get planting, any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm in a bind.

It must be a 4610SU if it has two steering cylinders.

I've worked on my share of those style of steering boxes, and have never had one act as you describe - that's a weird one right there. If it truly locks up solid when it warms up, then something is likely coming apart inside the box. If that is the case, I would commence with disassembly and find out what's going on before you trash the box completely.

You can try loosening the screw you mentioned (should be one on each side) maybe a 1/4 turn and see if that helps, but I wouldn't think it would help based on your description of the operation.

It has to be the gears in the box. It's not locked up like a cylinder. The steering wheel does have alot of play. Maybe too much play.
Thanks for the reply, I'll let you know what I find out.
