Ford 640 6volt generator wiring issue

Hello Friends!

I have an issue with wiring, the generator is a Delco Remy, and is not matching up to the wiring diagram. I am assuming the leftmost is g, the bottom is A, and right top is F? (sorry bout the notes made on the left)

I think you have terminals ID correct, especially since I see "A" stamped into barrel of generator. Are you concerned because the diagram shows a terminal on rear of generator? Diagram is for Ford gen and pictured gen is Delco-Remy (which Ford didn't use). The two generators use different VR's too, because Ford was Type-B and Delco-Remy was Type-A

Hello Friend!

Thank you for your response! I am new to 6 volt wiring and it makes sense now that the terminals varied from the diagram! I am a little confused though about what VR's are.

Will it drastically affect the charging system if I have a type A instead of B?

abeled Regulator in the diagram. Yes, if type does not match for Voltage Regulator and generator, it won't function. If your system has ever functioned then they likely match.

VR is Voltage Regulator, and a type A generator needs a type A VR, and a type B generator needs a type B VR.
