1964 4000 Select-O-Speed. Have gauges for fuel, temp, oil press and amps. Also two red lamps. What are these lamps for? Also need a light cover for the SOS shifter. Part number is 312245.
Thanks,
Dennis

(quoted from post at 22:58:38 05/16/20) My father bought this 4 cyl tractor new in 1964. Came with 4 gauges including amp meter.
here were more than one 4000. goofy, huh?

I would really like to see a picture of that dash with those factory gauges.
It sure would be odd as the 4 gauges I have seen from factory are proof meter; fuel; oil pressure; and temperature.
The amp gauge ended with the X00 tractors and went to a idiot light for the X01 and x000 tractors from 1958 to 1964 to make room for the fuel gauge.

Probably his father told the salesman that he had a stick for the fuel tank and that he wanted a an ammeter.

He listed the 4 gauges he has including amp and fuel.
The only one he left out is proof meter but one has to assume he has that because of the difference in size.
While we all know 4 small gauges are not factory installed I wanted to see the dash so we could see what the dealer did.
Without walking outside I wonder if it would be possible to enlarge the dash light hole and install a gauge there.

Here?s a picture of the dash. Just changed the fuel gauge from the 6v unit to a 12v.

As I suspected.
They removed the dash light; enlarged the hole; and installed a amp gauge.
Notice the different gauge spacing.
That will tell you it is not factory install.

But to answer your original question.
The red light to the left is a generator idiot light.
The one on the right is a SOS trans warning light.

Thanks John. You?re correct about the spacing although I hadn?t noticed it. Now I wonder who added the ammeter. Certainly not something my father would have attempted but dad sold the tractor in 1992. I bought it back from the widow of the guy that bought it. I have a log that he kept of everything he did along with the hours and cost. No mention of adding an ammeter. Dealer where dad bought it is still around so when I get a chance I?ll stop and ask him if it?s something they might have done.

Thanks again,
Dennis
