59 981 gold demonstrator paint code and other questions

Good evening,
I ve got a decent tractor that I d like to restore and continue to use on my small acreage.

This last week it started off as replacing the rear main seal, now I m completely rebuilding the engine and I m very tempted to go through the whole thing including paint.
What would be the correct gold paint code?

I m probably going to go through the soft parts in the transmission if I can find all of them and from the looks of it I should find a better/new input shaft and torque limiting clutch, any recommendations for the trans parts?

I ve been in the rear portion of trans to replace a seal and I changed a thrust washer to bring clearances back into spec. So I m not new to the difficulty of this trans.

Thanks,

Curt

Napa 13167 sand mettalic will get you there. For the ford numbers just look up the paint code for the '58/'59 ford engines that will be the same as they used on the Demo. I have an 881 1959 I will be
removing if you need parts or whole trans, Located in NJ 07838

Curt,
I just went through the same drill on paint for my 881 Gold. Martin Senour (Napa) is 13167. But there are
no Napa stores that sell Martin Senour, At least in Washington. Sherwin Williams owns Martin Senour brand
so I found a Sherwin Williams automotive store that can mix that paint code. The Sherwin Williams paint
code is 5A-2146705-A. Paint sprays well and looks good

I do have another question.
On the SelectOsSpeed decal on the hood, should the model number say 901 or 981? I've seen replacement decals both ways. I'm just curious which way it would have left the factory.

There was a production change. Some of the earliest ones had the model number. By the time granddad bought his '60 871 the decal just had the series on it.

Sorry. I don't know when exactly that change occurred.

I believe the change was made during the production run in 1960. Earlier ones would have carried the model number on the decal
