Ford 600 spindle

The old ford news some attention, for years or ever since I can
remember the steering always seemed hard in both directions. So
today I had some time I took out the left spindle and to my surprise I
found the remains of the thrust bearing and no spindle bushings, so
there on order. My question is since I cannot see the remains of
spindle bushings were so the go on the spindle please help. Thanks

If I'm understanding you question correctly, they do not go on the
spindle, they go in the housing and then are reamed/honed to fit
the spindle. It's not a bad job at all with the right tools and book.

So they are in the housing and not on the spindle, what would be
your best suggestion on removing the bushing if there?s anything left
of them?

What I do on these jobs is this. Purchase the correct upper and lower bushings from a dealer or supplier. Then take your spindles and housings and new bushings to a good machine shop. The spindles will almost always be worn where they mate with the bushings. The shop can remove the old bushings and install the new ones. They then can weld up the worn area on your spindles and turn and size them to fit the new bushings. Proper clearances will be maintained and all will work correctly when reinstalled. I have done this many times over the years and have never had a problem. If you do not have the correct tools for the job this is the best route to go. Measuring tools, heavy duty bushing drivers, reamers/honing tools and welder and a lathe are needed to do this job. You could get by without the welding and a lathe if you bought new spindles but, no need if you have a good machine shop you trust.
