So long battle so far, head cracked head, new head and valves from walt's bolt in. Put all back to gather and oil pressure is low 20 to 30. Before... I put in new oil gauge and converted to spin on oil filter. Where should I start?

Replace or check oil guage first.

if good, pull pan, and check mains and inserts for wear, and replace oil pump. you can use plasti-guage for mains and rod bearings.

The question what did you change that would effect oil pressure? Answer gauge many replacement tractor gauges seem to come from India. I replaced the gauges in a 340 IHC and the temp and oil gauge failed in 6 months. Also make sure the oil filter has a bypass valve I would try a different filter first. I would try 51515 wix

Do you still have your old gauge? Why did you put on a new one? Or are we misunderstanding, and you replaced the gauge after you got it running again.

Old gauge did not move and was stuck on 15 psi when off and on. Funny I went out there today and just started it up and it was at 45ish psi. But I didn't get a chance to drive it to see if it would drop low like last time. I also was told I used the wrong oil. I put 5w_30 instead of 30w....

Should run the 15w-40 hd diesel oil...as it has the additives you need for a farm tractor. rotella, delvac, or delo are around 13 bucks a gallon at wallmart. Your tractor should hold around 5 quarts with a filter change.

Now.. the oil pressure, is that at an idle or at 1600 rpms??

And yes, cold will be more, as it warms up it will drop, based on a lot of things, one will be wear on the engine parts...

at idle,,,what is the oil pressure? at 1600, what is the oil pressure? I would hope for 15lbs or better at idle, and 30 lbs or better at rpms, however I have seen less...
