Ford 420 throw out bearing

I installed a new clutch in my ford 420 but the throw
out bearing that came with the kit was incorrect.
The part number I have is c7nn7571L. I don?t even
see that part number in my catalog. I only need the
bearing but I saw other posts about needing to buy
the complete bearing assembly. I would buy it if I
needed to but would rather just get the bearing.
Does anyone have any tips on where I would find
the correct part?

A 420 is a industrial model. Has solid upside down U shaped front axle like 3500/3550/4400/340B. Has throwout brg assembly that has external greaser.

If that number is on the part itself it is not the part number used for ordering replacement parts. If it is a raised cumber it is a casting number and was used by the design engineers to differentiate one casting from the next. If it is a stamped number or a number on a tag or sticker it was probably a part number they used on the assembly line, which were always different than the replacement part numbers because they needed to differentiate parts intended for installation into new tractors from those meant for resale as replacement parts for inventory and tax purposes.

The proper part number for the throw out bearing for you tractor depends on which PTO option it has. If it has independent PTO it should be part number C7NN7548N. If it has trans driven PTO or no PTO then it should be part number C7NN7548M.

Never seen a Ford 420. Do you mean a 4200?

The 420 replaced the 4400 and was made from 1975-1978.

Thank you! That part number cast on the old part
was throwing me off! I will go to the local parts
place and order it today. Hopefully he has a source
that has one cheaper. On amazon from CNH it is
$1000! That?s just insane for a throw out bearing!

Your 420 should have the grease-able throw out bearing with the grease hose connecting it to the clutch housing, if so grease it and reuse it, they rarely go bad if they've been maintained at all.
Also the bearing only comes as a assembly with the hub, do not try to remove the bearing.
I have the same throw out bearing on my 4500, the engine has been changed twice and I've replaced the clutch since but the throw out bearing is still the original.

It does have the grease hose but it was definitely
worn out. I was able to use a puller to take it off the
assembly with no problem. The ball bearing retainer
is broken in three spots. I decided to ask around at
machine shops to see if they could help and found
one! He is making an adapter so the bearing that
came with the kit will work. He is charging me $300.
That?s a lot cheaper than the $1000 I was seeing
online for a now assembly! When I get it all back
together I will post an update if it works or not.

I wanted to post one more time with the outcome of my throw out bearing. I found an old time machine shop that was able to make an adapter so I can use the bearing that came with my clutch kit. He said it was a simple job and charged $150. Half of what he quoted me! I will now be able to use the more common sized bearing that is much cheaper and just replace it every time I replace the clutch. Hopefully this info is helpful to someone in the future! Thanks everyone for helping me out!
