Fired the 3000 up this morning to do some mowing and sitting in the seat chomping grass made me think about just how great this old tractor is. Bought it 18 years ago when we moved onto this property for $5000.00. Thought it was a little high at the time but the tractor seemed solid. 71 Diesel 8 speed with PS and front end loader. Have not had any major repairs, one starter and a battery or two. Did have to fix a power steering leak with a speedy sleeve on the column.
$5000.00 for 18 years pretty much trouble free service and could possibly get the $5000 back if I were to sell it today. Not many items I have purchased in my life time have been as good as this old Ford. She has a little surface rust where paint use to be and a few dents here and there but it always starts and gets the job done. It's kept our 8 acres mowed, plowed disc and leveled several acers for Sunflowers, moved allot of dirt and gravel. Tilled up garden spots lifted and moved allot of stuff I wouldn't have been able to without the loader.
Love that old Ford...
