Ford 4000 position control lever

Our 65 Ford 4000 has a bucket on it. We also use it with a tiller and bush hog. I got the position control lever to the up position but there is a problem. Now the bucket levers are blocked from forward movement by the position control lever.

So what is my best solution? Pull the bucket valve off, put the position control lever behind it and reassemble? Remove the bucket levers from the valve, put the position control lever behind them and put the levers back on (looks like I would have to drive out some pins). Pull the position control lever off and reposition it (lots of paint on it so I'm not sure how it comes off)? Or maybe I am missing something. It seems logical to believe that Ford engineers would know that an owner would want to use a bucket and the position control lever at the same time.

Input appreciated.

Thanks

By "bucket" I assume that you mean "front end loader", correct? So it sounds like you are running your front end loader off of the remote vales on the top cover.

Ford brand loaders for your tractor usually had a separate pump on the nose of the tractor with a separate sump in the loader frame, and the control valves for the loader were on one of the loader frame uprights, so the position control lever would not interfere with any of that.

There were many different remote valves made by Ford and other third party companies over the years that would fit that tractor and we don't know exactly which remote valves you have, so if you post some pictures we might be able to give you some advise.

Some of the remote valves don't have the correct handles to work the the 4000's raised position control lever, ran into that issue years ago.
Not correct but simplest and cheapest fix was to cut the position control lever off just below the remote handles, leaves about a inch or more of the lever. When I need draft control I slip a boxed end wrench over the stub to move the lever.

A better solution would be to add a HV3901 adapter plate under the remote and plumb in a loader valve if you don't already have one. This will raise the remotes above the handle and free up the rear remotes for other uses.

Looks like the hydraulic levers are hitting the draft control lever...

you can.... heat up the hydraulic levers and bend them back a bit.... assuming you have travel room before you hit the seat..

remake the levers to go up and then sideways...

or add a power beyond plate and add separate loader controls..

The remote hydraulic valves were made for use with lots of tractors and had lots of different designed levers... I would fix the levers to clear your draft/position lever.. assuming again that I read your problem correctly.
