Anyone know how to adjust original seat on this Tractor? Big black knob looking at the back side of seat seems frozen and wont turn.

Probably is frozen/rusted.
Try penetrating oil - multiple
applications over a few days might free
it up.
This is assuming the rubber torsion
spring is still good. Many if not most
have failed since they're 40+ years old
now.
New seats aren't that expensive. $100 or
so. They're cheap though. Sunlight eats
them up pretty fast.

Agree with dog, get a new seat....ebay has them for under a hundred bucks and some with free shipping. The Universal, popular style with the arm rests
built into the rear cushion works fine. Some have adjustable tilt which I find useless since the lowest position is what's needed and non-adjustable are
that way anyway. Seems they are built by different mfgrs but have the same basic design.

First thing I do is, right by that knob you can't turn...seat spring tensioner.....peering down, centered, you find the top of the shock absorber shaft. A
cotter key holds the pin in place and removing the pin and pushing the shock's shaft all the way down gets you a soft, springy, 3" deflection range
ride.....you can bounce up and down and adjust the spring tensioner for your desired ride softness. The shock has a purpose on hard jars, but horrible on
your back and if you stay alert and have the range of the spring tension set right, you avoid the jars experienced at some times in some field conditions. I
have 3 Fords with them and none have the shock attached and my back says thank you!
