Ford 850 clutch and 3pt lift issues/questions

I have an 850 acquired from a family member. It has been almost completely rebuilt but has a few issues. It s gas and has the 5spd 2 stage clutch. The clutch is new. The tractor was rebuilt and parked under a shelter for about 3 years.

Clutch: pedal is about 6 inches off the step. Pedal has a mile of free travel above it s resting position. Both stages work. Shifts through gears easily and smoothly. Has some release bearing noise with pedal out and goes away when pedal is pressed. When driving, there s a loud (competes with exhaust) grinding/scrubbing noise that goes away when clutch is pressed in. Seems to vary with load.

Lift: lift lever works but most lift arm travel seems to be in the upper area of lever travel. When driving with lift up, draft lever in "position", or horizontal, the lift will float up and down.

Any help with this?

Well, may have found some of the problem. Transmission and rear
end full of water. I?ll drain, refill, and see what happens.

Yah! first off, an 850 does not have a 2 stage clutch. If it's got a 2 stage and is an 800 series, it's an 860.

Secondly, I hope fresh oil takes away the noise. It will not, however, fix the clutch pedal position. The noise could be anything from the clutch through the powertrain to the brakes.

i Pulled the drain plug on the transmission this morning, all water.
Gonna flush with diesel and refill and see what happens.
