My dash gauges don't work and I'm wondering is there a aftermarket tach and gauges for my 1972 3000 diesel? I can't stand nor do I trust idiot lights, as when they come on I feel damage is already occurring.[color=blue:d008e766c4][/color:d008e766c4]

That red light on the dash is much more apt to get my attention than a guage - especially after a couple of hours in the seat.
Aftermarket clusters are available from this site. If yours is original there's about a 98% chance the tach and hour meter are kaput anyway. They were notorious for early failure.
If you are even remotely thinking about an alternator upgrade to your tractor someday you might consider switching over to the 3600 style cluster and tach drive. 3600 tach is not driven off the generator. It is driven off the oil pump drive gear below the oil filter.
There is quite a bit of info about doing the switch if you do some digging in the archives here.

There are aftermarket dash cluster available for your tractor but you should first check to see if yours are bad.

There's a fuse in the harness behind the cluster that could be blown, the voltage stabilizer on the back of the cluster could be bad, temp, fuel sending units could be bad

Has for the idiot lights that's for the charging system and oil pressure, there is not factory or aftermarket gauge clusters that replace these lights with gauges.

Did you check for new gauges on this site? Click on "Tractor Parts" toward the top of the column at the left.

Today's Featured Article - What Oil Should I Use? - by Francis Robinson. I keep seein this question pop up over and over again in discussion groups all over the web. As with many things there are often several right answers and a few wrong ones. Some purist I'm sure will disagree to no end with what I will tell you but most of us out here in the real world don't really care do we ? Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You ...
