3000 Lift Arm

Funny thing happened today. had a 6' rotary mower on the 3 pt driving down the country road and hit s hard bump and the lift arm severed, just like you
took a knife to it at a 90* angle, about an inch in front of the leveling box/arm attaches..

Looking at the raw interface, it looks crystalline in nature thinking maybe these things are cast rather than forged steel. Whatever it is, I am in the middle
of a job and need it tomorrow. I have some 6011 rods and I was thinking about grinding V grooves at the junction, weld up several layers, grinding off
smooth, then scab a 3-4"plate on both sides since scab joints are my strongest.

Additionally, the arm is 32" center to center, ?" wide with a max width of 3". I bought these off ebay a year or so ago and they seem to be very soft, and
bend readily.........figuring on the country of origin is beyond my wildest aspiration..........

Anybody have a couple of the old type that don't bend you want to get out from under your feet?

Comments appreciated. Thanks,
Mark

Ford PNs are DONN555C for left, D for right. Seems lift arms from 600, 800, 2000, 3000, 4000 series Fords, for the 31 ⅝ center to center arms are the same.

From looking at pictures at All States Ag. Parts, their used ones are what I want. They have new ones but they are cheap and the same color as the ones I have that bend and FAIL so I want the old style, red or blue paint ok. Problem with the All States parts are I can't order online and have them shipped to me.

I broke one on my 2810 last year,it broke through the hole where the leveling box attaches. I v'd it out, made a root pass with 6011, capped with 2 passes of 7018 and good to go. It's has no problems with the 6' bush hog or moving round bales since.

I used to snap arms in half like that when lifting a very heavy load.
Added stabilizer arms and that stopped them from bowing and breaking.

I would use 7018 and skip the 6011.
Heat the weld area to about 600 degrees first.

I think if you add your email just below your name when you make a post it will add it every time you post after that.
For Classic View that is. I don't know about Modern View.
Mine is always open on classic.
Why don't you email me. I might have a pair of lift arms from a 3000 here.

I had the adjustable, tubular stabilizers sold at TSC on both arms when it snapped. Only had a 6' medium duty rotary cutter on the 3 pt. at the time.

Thanks. As it turned out, I found the old ones I had previously removed, and just bought a set of Pat's quick hitches for them. They came off a larger Cat II tractor that were too long. I decided to cut them down to the 31 ⅝" dimension and add Pats QHs.
