75 4000 leak advice

I bought a 75 4000. It s an 8 speed diesel with independent PTO.

It has a leak coming from the "nub" located at the 5 o clock position on the hydraulic pump cover behind the right foot rest. Has anyone ever encountered or fixed a similar leak? If there s an o-ring sealing this, I don t know how to get to it.

Any advice is appreciated!

That is a dowel pin that helps locate the pump, you would possibly have to
remove the pump to get to it. From what I remember should be a blind hole,
there is no seal or "O"ring on it. Could be the pump gasket is broken at
that point.

Thanks, majorman. Any guidance getting that gasket fixed? I m assuming coming in from the top...big PIA, right?

I don t usually like doing things halfway but I m this case I decided to roll the dice. I was able to pry the pump about 1/16" away from the tractor and I squirted some gasket maker up into the crack. I don t have high hopes that it will fix it but it was worth the experiment to me. Time will tell. I will report back when I ve determined whether it holds the fluid in (at least in the short run.
