What is it??

I saw this listed by a semi local equipment jockey. He doesn't seem to want to reply to questions.

I'm guessing one of the 340 industrial models? I can't figure out the "frame" and front weight. I wonder if it has a 3 point.

I'm not good with marketplace and it won't let me set the search beyond 100 miles, without a heading I don't know what to look fore, location would help.

Could be a 335 or an early 340. They both had that 3600 style grill and 3400 style non-adjustable single piece radius rod front axle. According to the parts pages, the 340 switched to the heavier 4500 style front axle on 4/1/81, and the 340A and 340B had the heavier 4500 stye front axle for their entire production runs.

It looks like a loader frame (notice the uprights) without the arms or bucket and with some sort of extra weight on the front. The mount for that sickle mower appears to have been welded to the bottom of the loader frame just rearward of the frame upright.

I do see the left upper and lower lift arms and the link between them when I zoom in on the third picture. The ad does say "live hydraulics and PTO" and "live hydraulics" generally refers to the 3 point lift, so I am saying, yes, it has a s 3 point lift.

I'm not sure why it has that huge weight on the front unless it was installed to counter balance some really large mower on the rear that it might have originally had. It definitely looks like the sickle mower has been on there for quite some time, so it was probably a highway mower that had a good sized batwing mower on the rear and the sickle on the side for slopes.

I don't know the Ford Industrial tractors very well. I've never seen a four post ROPS on a 335, but have seen them on 340's. I could understand a huge front weight to counter balance a large rear mower, but can't imagine too large of a mower on a 40 - 45 HP tractor. It seems that pictures of tractors with hydraulic mowers also show some good sized auxiliary hydraulic fluid tanks. Would a 335 or 340 have the capacity and/or flow without an auxiliary pump or tank? I don't recall ever seeing a highway mowing tractor with a front end loader. I would imagine that the tractor has a quite interesting history !

Ford did build a 335 Highway utility for a short time in the early 80s.That could be one. One charictaristic of that time was the long colume and smaller steering wheel. I've had that come up when checking parts for mine.

The parts site does show a 4 post ROPS for the 335.

I assume that the standard Industrial hydraulic pump is there behind that front weight, and the loader frame would be the reservoir, so so the flow/capacity wouldn't be an issue.
