Calling All Ford Part Number Guru's....Need Help

Okay guys, I asked a couple days ago about R&R of the factory power steering pump on my 2910. I ended up ordering a new aftermarket pump that just about every parts site says E6NN3K514PA99M replaces it. Well I get it and it's really not even close. The JC fitting on the reservoir was about two sizes too large for the factory fitting, it pointed in the total opposite direction, the case was not clearenced like the original to fit around the timing case bolt, plus the reservoir would not physically fit on the pump because it hit the block. So I sent it back and got a reseal kit. My buddy came over after work today and did all the pump work for me and I put it back on. It no longer leaks, but it hardly works now and you have to be at high rpm before it gives much assistance. Everything was put back together properly and I completely trust his work as he is a factory CAT field mechanic with 15 years experience. Nothing looked excessively worn, except one seal was real hard where it was leaking. I am going to pull it back off and apart one more time tomorrow, but the thing will only go together one way. At this point I am just kind of over it and would like to replace it. So through a gauge cluster and wiring issue previously, you all helped me find out I have a real early model 2910 and I think it has a mishmash of parts on it from several models.

So here's what I am asking. The factory pump is a Sundstrand and is part #D8NN3K514EC. I see a lot of cross references online to all sorts of variations to this part number, except none of them end in the EC. I see ED, EA, EG, etc. I think through lots of searching this evening I have finally found a part number that looks like it is the proper replacement and the pictures seem to agree from what I can tell. That is part number is E6NN3K514EA with a modern manf number of 83959533. Let me know what you all think about it. Thanks again for the assistance!

That pump (E6NN3K514EA) is available from SMA (Tisco) by that part number and should fit your tractor. 83959533 is an obsolete part and I come up with 87759440 as a current NH part number and is more than double the price of the SMA pump.

Before you start ripping and tearing try one thing. Take the cap off and fire it up. Add some oil and don't put the cap on. Work the wheel and add some oil as the level goes down. That pump can be a pita to get the air out of. If that don't work, then go to rippin. Good Luck.

Thanks for the tip, but we already did that. You can see it pumping well through the filter and we drove it & worked the wheel for well over 30 minutes. If it is air locked I am stumped because it is running clear now, meaning no more air bubbles or foam in the reservoir.

You're correct that 87759440 supersedes 83959533, but they both supersede E6NN3K514EA. That is the number I came up with that I found to think will work. However it's still frustrating my original part number does not show up in any list anywhere with any supersessions and what all the online sources call for as a replacement does not actually fit. Thanks for the confirmation.

The internal pump sections can be put together backwards causing lose of pump flow, I pay close attention to the old seal markings on the sections to make sure it's assembled correctly.

I just talked to a neighbor about his 2910's steering leak (cracked fitting), and after reading this thread there were 2 pumps used on that tractor depending on the year made.
E6NN3K514DA with 650 psi relief, only photo's I could find showed a 90 degree fitting needed to connect to the column line (port is straight out of the pump housing).

My neighbors 2910 has pump # E6NN3K514BA that has 850 psi relief with a casting on the pump that uses a straight fitting.

I would first take the pump back apart and make sure the pump sections were assembled correctly, if that doesn't help see if you can cross the number I listed over.

Yeah, my pump appears to be the one like in the first picture. If you sort the numbers out through all the supersessions and crosses, that matches up with the one I finally settled on last night and posted the number above. Thanks again for the help.
