Okay guys, I asked a couple days ago about R&R of the factory power steering pump on my 2910. I ended up ordering a new aftermarket pump that just about every parts site says E6NN3K514PA99M replaces it. Well I get it and it's really not even close. The JC fitting on the reservoir was about two sizes too large for the factory fitting, it pointed in the total opposite direction, the case was not clearenced like the original to fit around the timing case bolt, plus the reservoir would not physically fit on the pump because it hit the block. So I sent it back and got a reseal kit. My buddy came over after work today and did all the pump work for me and I put it back on. It no longer leaks, but it hardly works now and you have to be at high rpm before it gives much assistance. Everything was put back together properly and I completely trust his work as he is a factory CAT field mechanic with 15 years experience. Nothing looked excessively worn, except one seal was real hard where it was leaking. I am going to pull it back off and apart one more time tomorrow, but the thing will only go together one way. At this point I am just kind of over it and would like to replace it. So through a gauge cluster and wiring issue previously, you all helped me find out I have a real early model 2910 and I think it has a mishmash of parts on it from several models.
So here's what I am asking. The factory pump is a Sundstrand and is part #D8NN3K514EC. I see a lot of cross references online to all sorts of variations to this part number, except none of them end in the EC. I see ED, EA, EG, etc. I think through lots of searching this evening I have finally found a part number that looks like it is the proper replacement and the pictures seem to agree from what I can tell. That is part number is E6NN3K514EA with a modern manf number of 83959533. Let me know what you all think about it. Thanks again for the assistance!
