5000 Making Oil

I'm working on a 5000 diesel that is diluting the crankcase oil. I'm not much of a Ford guy, so bear with me.
The power steering is not losing fluid, and it's not coolant. It definitely appears to be fuel. It has the
Simms injection pump. However the oil in the pump cambox is not being diluted. I changed oil, in both engine
and pump, and ran it. Engine oil is going up, but I can't tell the pump oil has been diluted at all. It looks
brand new, which it basically is. From looking at a diagram of the pump, it seems fuel would first have to leak
into the pump cambox, and then into the engine? Also, it seems like the themostart unit is on all the time when
the key is in the run position, but doesn't seem to be leaking when the key and tractor are off. If it were
dumping fuel into the manifold while running, would it be able to dilute the engine oil, or would it just be
burned off? Thanks for any thoughts.

Have you pulled the head and checked head gasket? Is it using extra fuel then? Is it running well, smoking? Smoke at startup? What color?

I haven't really done anything to it. Just trying to figure out where the oil dilution is coming from. It's a neighbor's tractor. The tractor seems to start and run fine. It has a little white smoke on a cold start, but nothing I'd consider unusual for a diesel tractor. They did say it seems to be using more fuel than it used to.

How do you know themostart unit is on all the time? Is it hot? There is not that much fuel in line unless has old die cast resivour. Inline pumps don't have much excess fuel back to tank

Fuel lift pump ? The diaphragm can split providing a route for diesel to enter the engine crank case.

Injector pump ? Injector pump shaft seals have been known to fail.

Damaged Injectors ? Leaking injector nozzles during periods of inactivity can drip their contents into the cylinder which then runs down between the piston and bore into the sump.

If I took the hose off the intake manual, and turn the key to the run position, the themostart would begin putting fuel into the manifold and ignite it. It'd stay on, as long as the key was on. It was wired at the key switch incorrectly. I got that fixed, but will it fix the oil dilution? Guess change the oil, and see?

I considered the lift pump, and injector pump, but can fuel actually get into the engine, without first diluting the cambox oil on the injector pump? That oil, does not appear to be being diluted. I thought about injectors. Just trying to cross things off one at a time. Thanks.
