I'm working on a 5000 diesel that is diluting the crankcase oil. I'm not much of a Ford guy, so bear with me.
The power steering is not losing fluid, and it's not coolant. It definitely appears to be fuel. It has the
Simms injection pump. However the oil in the pump cambox is not being diluted. I changed oil, in both engine
and pump, and ran it. Engine oil is going up, but I can't tell the pump oil has been diluted at all. It looks
brand new, which it basically is. From looking at a diagram of the pump, it seems fuel would first have to leak
into the pump cambox, and then into the engine? Also, it seems like the themostart unit is on all the time when
the key is in the run position, but doesn't seem to be leaking when the key and tractor are off. If it were
dumping fuel into the manifold while running, would it be able to dilute the engine oil, or would it just be
burned off? Thanks for any thoughts.
