Bern, I need help with my test results!

Working on a TW30. With the PTO disengaged and the DP in low I get 155 psi. With the DP in high I only get 25 psi, PTO engaged or not. If in low DP the gauge will come up to 60 PSI when I engage the PTO. Gage holds steady so I don't think there is air in the system. What else can I do before I split it to fix the main drive clutch. It won't disengage.

If this tractor was built before June of 1981, and if it hasn't had the transmission pump and bearing updated, it sounds to me like a bearing failure in the transmission pump. That would be the only explanation for numbers that low.

The pump is #74, and the bearing is #4 at the link below. You'd be looking at a rear tranny split in that case.

So I am not familiar as to how the Dual power works. Is the clutch pack for Low spring applied and gets released when you shift to High? He has been using the tractor in low for years. Just to make sure I will check with another gage. Thanks for your help!

No, both low and high are oil applied. However, the low clutch requires no flow, whereas the high clutch has natural internal leakage because
it rotates, just like the PTO clutch does.

Get the build date off that thing. If it's before June 1981, assume the worst.

So the tag by the fuel tank was gone. I found these number above the pto C676455 and MC313M and 118B. So it looks like it was built in 1981. Do any of these numbers give you a build date? If it is the smaller bearing, what all would need to be changed out? Are parts still available?

Take another look at the "118B" number. There should be a letter between the two number "1" digits. That is the key here. Can't make a decision without it.

So I looked real close with a light and magnifying glass. Can't see any other letter between the two ones. The first one looks like a 1 the second digit looks like just a straight perpendicular bar. The top of it does not have a tip on it like the first digit. Also there is not enough space between them for a letter. Is there any other way to date it? Today I drove it around. In third gear With the DP in High I could stop it with the brakes and the engine would keep going. Did not mater if the PTO was engaged or not. But with it in low DP and the PTO engaged I could also stop it with the brakes and the engine would keep running. With the PTO disengaged I could not stop it with the brakes. Could you email me?
