641 Ford lift problems

I was trying to set the draft and power lift on my 641 today. I was able to set the draft which I NEVER have used. When I tried to set the power lift,
I could not get enough gap to get Zane's shin to insert for I ran ou of threads. When I put the lift back on the tractor, the lift will go up all the
way or down all the way. I can't get it to hold a position in the middle. What can I do? Can I adjust around the draft since I never plan to use it?
Any help is appreciated!

Larry

I would lift the lift cover up adjust by feel.

Shorten the adjuster up almost all the way move the quadrant all the way to up and adjust it till the control valve just bottoms out at the top of the travel of the quadrant... If its two long you will feel the quadrant bind up before full lift.

Once I get it like I want I turn the adjuster out a few turns this will allow for some ware of the cam follower pin over time.

I never could get them to my liking with Zanes deal, to me this is what its set out to accomplices it works for me : ) I then can adjust the draft externally if need be..

I use a engine lift pick the lift up leave it that way and make adjustments while its hanging on the lift. I set it back on install the two bolts around the o-ring and a few more around the cover to even it out then work the lift... Its EZ as pie and fast...

My take on this is when adjusting by the book is just where in the ell do you get lucky enoufh to set the lift arms just right without the factory tool... I understand it and know when I have to run the adjuster all the way out sum'M is not set right and in no way could it need that much adjustment...

Zane's instructions has you adjusting the Draft first at the control valve and then you adjust the power lift on the spring that has a lock not on one end and a setting adjustment on the other. This is the one that I ran out of threads on. From your instructions, I think I am adjusting this all backwards. Does the control valve adjustment adjust the draft of the lift?
Thanks,

Larry, when someone says to send them an email, look down at the lower right hand corner of their post. It should say "send email" while normally it says "no email"

I know. That is why I asked for his email address. I am having a time with this lift. I want to scream.

I adjust at the turn buckle while in position mode I do not fudge with anything else till I have the lift cover on... I go by site of the control valve and feel of the quadrant...

I do not use Zane's instructions they can get you all crossed up...

I followed you instructions in the above post. The lift is going up and down now and holding at what ever position that I stop it at. Fixing to hook up to the bush hog. That will tell me if I have it right or not. Thanks for your input.
Oh, I called Zane's number to talk with him and his wife told me that he had passed away about two years ago.

Thanks again,
Larry
