Was doing some discing with my Ford 7710. It started to smoke real bad out the bottom vent pipe.
It has 3900 hrs on it and doesnt use oil between oil changes.
Something happened but i dont know what.
Any ideas out there?

here's a pic. it didnt upload.

If it's puffing/pulsing, you have a cracked piston. If it's continuous steam, you found a pinhole in a cylinder wall. Either way, it's not good. Don't keep running it.

My 6610 does that at times depending on the weather, keep a check on coolant and oil levels, if either get low you've got a issue like Bern said, if no change pull the intake pipe off of the turbo and check for play, could have a seal out pushing some boost into the crankcase.

Before i shut it down, i was standing beside it as it idled. Did not sound smooth.
Sounded like it was running on 3 1/2 cylinders!

Crankcase vapor coming out of vent indicates engine compression entering crankcase. I'll suggest to check engine valve clearances & compression. Do you monitor PH of your tractors antifreeze?

When did you change the antifreeze last? Sounds like the dreaded cavitation bug has struck. I have repaired so many of these I lost count a long time ago. The 10 series were the worst.

Welding man, I purchased this tractor in April 2014 with 3300 hrs and changed the the coolant then. Now we have 5 years gone by and 600 hrs of use on this tractor. So its being used around 100 hrs/year.
My question is what wears coolant out, time or usage?

Our 6610 does that. It just burns it, so I m thinking it s the head. Quarter of a jug every 15 hours of runtime. It still runs cool (nock on wood).
