I have my 5610 engine out for a rebuild, needs crank work and a rod. was curious as the 5610 and 6600 have same bore different stroke. If i buy a overhaul kit for a 6600 and a crank for a 6600 would it work with my original block? Looking to get more HP if possible while its out and apart.

hi, go to tractordata.com you can look up your tractor. what i looked at they have the same engine

The 5610 had a 256 ci engine with 4.4" bore x 4.2" stroke. The 6600 had the same displacement engine with the same bore and stroke, but with a turbocharger. The 6610 had a 268 ci with the longer 4.4" stroke, but still with the turbocharger.

I know the bore of both is 4.4 the stroke of the 5610 is 4.2 while the 6600 is 4.4 I was wondering if anyone knew if i bought the 6600 master overhaul kit with crank it would make mine a 6600. I always thought the turbos came on the 7700 series

Sorry, my mistake, I was thinking of the 7600 that had the turbocharger. But all of the references I can find say that the 6600 had the same displacement, bore and stroke as the 5610. Where are you finding information that the 6600 had a longer stroke?

I have 2 original owner manuals from Ford both list same data. Looking online at crank kits they show 4.2 and 4.4 stroke. I looked at part numbers for connecting rods, cam, lifters and push rods and are all the same for both engines.

The only 6600 to have the 4.4 stroke 268 engine was the 81 model Blue Power Special.
Early 5000 and 75-80 5600 used the 4.2 x 4.2 233ci engine
Late 5000, 81 5600 BPS, 75-80 model 6600 and 5610 used the 4.4 x4.2 256 ci engine.
All had the same 4.2 stroke but the balancer gears were different depending on the year the engine was built.

So this would work?

That kit says that it's for a 256 CI engine, which had the 4.2" stroke. It was the 268 CI engine that had the 4.4" stroke. They don't appear to have a similar kit here with everything including the crankshaft for the 268 CI engine, but they do sell the crankshaft separately and overhaul kits without the crankshaft. Search on 6610 instead of 6600.

Another note - simply swapping out the crankshaft to get the longer stroke isn't going to do much to increase hp unless you do something to get the injection pump to deliver more fuel.
