445a questions

Good afternoon all, I have a Ford 445a tractor and I've been been having issues with what seems to be the clutch. I can only get it to take off on flat ground in first and second gear. I'm thinking it's the clutch and I'm trying to figure out exactly what year the tractor is. Any other advice on what to check before diving into this? Thanks for the help!

First there's a tag under the hood above the battery, list the model, unit and serial number so we can decode them for you.
What transmission does it have?
Where does it fell like the clutch is engaging, middle od pedal travel, near the top of the pedal travel, does the pedal have any free travel at the top, should be able to easily push the pedal down a inch or more but not over 2 inches.

According to the parts site, the 445A was made from 6/85 through 11/88. Not a lot changed during those few years so the exact year of manufacture shouldn't matter when looking for parts, but as Destroked said, if you post those numbers from the sticker under the hood we can tell you the exact day it rolled off of the assembly line.

I posted the pics earlier I don't know
why they werent included.

Nice looking tractor and 4wd to boot

KD4 = 445A
1 = Diesel
4 = Ind. 540 rpm
K = 6x4 manual reversing

Assembly date April 13, 1988, first shift

Model # KD414K
KD4 = 445A
1 = diesel engine
4 = independent 540 pto
K = 6x4 manual revering trans

Unit # 8E10B = tractor was built May 10, 1988 on day shift.

C in the serial number means the tractor was built in the US

Thanks everyone. Got the clutch figured out, just need to adjust the linkage some. It wasn't allowing it to engage. Before if I barely depressed the clutch peddle it would stop. Now I have about 1.5 inches. And wow it's like I've got a new tractor!

Joe, that's the assembly date for the engine, not the tractor.
