Ford 5000 swap to electric fuel pump

(quoted from post at 18:10:57 04/16/20) Why?? If the injection pump is working right gravity works just fine. There much larger diesel tractors that work fine with gravity flow too.

It s hasn t been run in a few years. I m trying to get everything moving again and hopefully around a rebuild. Hope it will speed up gravity.

(quoted from post at 19:12:18 04/16/20) If the rotor plungers are stuck like some I see in for repair each week, an electric pump won't help.
What s the best way to free the plungers? I ve gone as deep as spring under meter valve.

Plungers stuck tight with stale fuel can only be freed up with a complete tear down and cleaning, I see several each month in with severely stuck valves and plungers. If the hydraulic head is good most work fine again on the test stand after a good cleaning.

Stuck plungers are so common I see two on average each week. Most need to be tapped out with a small hammer. Most guys think they can use some little trick to free them
up. Almost always this doesnt work. If you read enough posts you will find some clown who worked on a few tractors in the 70s who has a magic trick for freeing up stuck
pumps or claim a pump takes 1 hr to repair.Common Sense tells you most of this is bunk. With the fuel we use in 2020 pumps stick very easy and some in as little as 6-8
months. The longer they set the tighter they get. This new fuel just isnt like fuel from 30 years ago. Time for a simple reseal. Al

Yes, I've done it on a 5000 with good results. My problem was that I was having to bleed the lines every time I used it. After adding the electric pump, I
never had to bleed them again. Yes, I know that if everything was exactly right, I would not need it. I have done this on several tired Diesel engines with
good results on most. However, it does matter what the original problem is.
