Replace Rear Tires and rims on 8N

I just found out that my rear tires and rims are shot. Rusted out and rotting. I have no idea where to start. I'm told that tires 10-28 are not available now. What size do I look for? I need numbers to look up. Also, will I be able to still use the wheel disk. It's in great shape.
Thanks,
Jim

8N-s used 28 x 9 Hat Rims. I have a restored set for sale if interested. SEE PIX. Tires were also 10 x 28 because that is how they measured them back then -from the inside width. Nowadays the same size is 11.2 x 28 measured from the outside of tire. You use the 9 x 28 or 10 x 28 rims made today as 6-loop aftermarkets. MILLER TIRE has always been very good to me. You would be wise to seek your local Firestone AG Tire dealer hand he can set you up with rims, tubes, and tires. MILLER can order your parts and have them shipped to the dealer for the grunt work.

So my 10 x 28 are really 11.2 x 28. I can use them. That helps with the money. A tucker tire 11.2 x 28 tire and rim will be less then 800 using my own rim. correct?

You were misinformed. 10 x 28 tires and rims are still made. As stated below, 10 x 28 was the old tire size; today they are 11.2 x 28 and identical in size. Rims are now aftermarket as the OEM FORD Hat Rims are no longer serviced. Those were 28 x 9. When the 800 Hundred Series models were released, the standard size was 12 x 28 tires on 10 x 28 rims. So, can I use my original disks? I know I have to buy a new rim. Will my disk fit on the 28 x 9 6 loop rim?

Yes on all of the above. Your original wheels rusted out with cancer from the Calcium Chloride that was used for ballast weight. Scrap out rotted tiers, tubes, and rims.
get all new or find a used set of wheels hint hint ; > ) DO NOT put Ca Chl in new tubes. If you need ballast weight think about Rim Guard -best stuff out there. Like I
said, haul your tractor to your local AG Tire Center and he can hook you up. It's well worth the extra expense to have them do the grunt work believe me. They have the
tools and equipment to do it all right there. Just my advice -you can do what you want.

The rims/disks from the Ford 800, and 1000 series, as well as the Ferguson TO series, and Massey Ferguson 35, 135, and small 200 series all should have the same lug pattern/center hole size as the 8N. They will let you use the much more common 13.6x28, or a 14.8x24 tire (if you find a pair of 24" wheels). The 14.8x24 is probably about the same diameter as the original 10x28 (but a bit wider). You should be able to find those wheels much easier used.

Check Craigslist. I see tires and rims for sale all the time. Where are you in Mich? Years ago I sold
2 pair to a man who was visiting SE Mich from western end of the UP.

I'm in Lapeer County and use the Firestone Tire Center in Marlette. I have used them for years with the best crew and service. They even came to my house once and replaced a rusted out rear rim on my 8N. You can search on-line for a Firestone dealer near you, they are all over MICH. I'm sure there are a few other tire shops that do good work too, but I find a good thing and stick with it.

I just replaced the rims and tires on my 9n. The rims were 10x28
and cost $130ea. The tires are 11.2x28 and were $239ea. The
tubes were $35ea.
