Remove and Bypass Ford 4000 (3 cyl) Gas Fuel Pump

Has anyone just removed and bypassed the fuel pump on a gas 3 cylinder Ford? Given the tank and carburetor locations, it seems like an unnecessary pump. Thoughts? Thanks.

I have just bypassed the pump on several tractors I have had. As long as you dont let your tank run low it works fine. I try to keep 1/2 tank of gas and it never misses a beat. I have run it much lower without a problem but the 1/2 tank rule assures me I wont have a problem.

I work my 3600...hard and it gravity feed wouldn't keep up with demand so I added an electric (low pressure) fuel pump.

Same here with a 4000 with a 192.
Gravity worked fine up to about 60 or 70% horsepower but with the 6' rotary mower in the thick stuff I could tell it wasn't getting the fuel it wanted.
So as a short term fix I put a cheap low pressure electric pump on it which helped.
Was going to go back to the OEM fuel lines and pump as a permanent fix but changed my mind and am putting a diesel in it.

My grandfather ended up bypassing the line with a pump. It seems like the flow was too great because the carb started to leak from everywhere. We ran a line to the tank, but when you hit a grade depending how full the tank was. the tractor would want to sputter. Years later we ended up buying the engine driven pump then making some lines and that worked.
