Opened the hood on my 335 today only to find I need a new battery hold down. I got a couple of ideas but thought I'd check to see if you've made any. I aint a tight a$$ but it's not worth $80.00.

Charlie, I'm not Ultra but he once suggested to me to take a small
ratchet strap, cut one of the metal S hooks off and hook the loop
from the other end on the remaining hook. Shorten the strap to
fit the application and tighten it up. It's worked well for me for years.

$80?
I wouldn't buy one either.
I haven't made one. Would be pretty easy
though. I just use one of those small
rachet straps. Cut one hook off and
shorten the strap.
I quit buying 4DLT batteries. Expensive,
not much of a warranty on them. Just use
a pickup battery now.

I thought about an endless cam lock strap or I have access to a nylon banding tool. After I posted I pulled the battery out and it looks like I'm gonna be buying a tray. It's cheaper than the hold down. The old girl gets maybe 30 hours work a year. Makes for a great sickle mower. Use it to rake with too. With it being the last new tractor my dad bought , it's hard to part with.

Speaking of battery trays - and being a
tight a$$
Here's my latest cobble job on the 4000
I'm rehabbing.
I mentioned no more 4DLTs for me.
I needed a new tray and had a good one
from a gasser. So I cut the front end off
of it, took 3" out of the length then
welded the end back on.
Shortened a diesel hold down too.
Now it fits the batterys I use.
The air tube to the intake manifold works
and no pinching the battery cables in the
back now either.
Mom didn't name me Jerry for nothing...
