Ive been doing some repair work for some people and ive got a guy that has 3000 with a bad selec-o-speed transmission then another 3000 with a 4 speed transmission that wants to make a good tractor out of them. Im thinking just split both of them behind the motor and put the 2 good halves together. Is there anything else I need to switch over or do? This is the first time ive done something like this. Any other tips would be appreciated! They are both 1973 models

As you have two whole tractors, you
should have everything you need... unless
you decide to put a new clutch in while
it's split. You DO need to keep the
transmissions with their respective rear
ends, as they use different ratios.
I'm assuming you mean a 4-speed with
hi/low, commonly known as an 8-speed,
since the 4-speed was discontinued in
mid-'68.

Just bring the flywheel and clutch along from the tractor that's donating the back half and you'll be fine.

He s gonna get a new clutch for me to put in

I'd do the split first, to make sure you
get the right clutch... lots of
variables... diameter, spline count,
single or double disk, etc.
