Ford 6610 Lift Cover Gasket

Getting parts together to repair a broken PTO brake band on a 6610 and fix the leaky lift cylinder while I am in there with the top off. One thing I have come across is the gasket for the top cover. When I look up the part number that the 6610 part manual calls for, it says it fits a 5000 and 7000 as well, but if I look up the part number for those tractors, it shows as only fitting those. The 5000 and 7000 lift cover gaskets are much more readily available than the one for the 6610 and with everyone in quarantine, it would be a lot easier to order one of those straight to the house.

Does anyone know if the 5000/7000 gasket C5NNA967B will work on a 6610 (it calls for E4NN967AA, so almost the same part number too). Also, is the parts book correct that the piston uses the same backup ring and o-ring for the piston?

The C5 and E7 at the beginnings of the part numbers tells what year that part number was first used. C65 is 1965 and E7 is 1977. The "NN" part of the part number means that the part was designed by the tractor division of Ford Motor Company for the tractor division. The "A967" part of the part number tells what part it is, in this case a top cover gasket. The letters at the end just differentiate between parts where the rest of the part number might be the same.

The parts site actually shows that the part number for the 6610 was originally E4NNA967AA, not E4NN967AA (note the A after the NN), but that has been superseded by part number 83948873. The newer part number, 83948873, shows as being available for immediate shipment on both partspring.com and messicks.com web sites, so you should be able to get it from your local New Holland dealer if you have one. partspring wants $20.00 for it and Messicks is asking $25.88. I don't know what the shipping charges are for each so best to contact them both and ask to see which one might be cheaper overall. If you have a local dealer and can wait a few days order it through them if they don't have one in stock and let them wait until their normal weekly shipment comes in and they won't charge you for shipping.

When I did our 7610, the dealer gave me the paper gasket, saying it was a less expensive option that worked fine, so would that have been the earlier style gasket? I am planning on replacing all o-rings involved in this repair including the ones for the tube. I think on the 7610, it did have the original steel gasket, but I tossed it and replaced it with the paper style, and so far no leaks (there at least...).
