Tach/Proof Meter bounces.

Everything is cold, but the meter reads high and bounces around. I can't remember but I thought I read somewhere that you could oil the bearing on the back of the cluster. Is that correct? The cable rotates super easy.

On another note I was trying to check the RPM with my multimeter, I set it on RPM 4str 3cyl and put it on the coil power and switch ground, but it reads really high, like 5k rpms. Am I missing something?

Hi Steve. Yes I used some cable lube on the cable and I sprayed the bearing on the tach. It was gritty and I just spun it by hand a bunch and held it at an angle that kept the spray lube from running in the display. I didn t think it worked but after it ran for about 15 minutes it was smooth and matched my external tach.

I would highly recommend it, it worked great for me.
