Probably the easiest and cheapest would be to buy the back half - transmission and rear end from a 4000, 4600 or 4610 and swap it with what you have now. Better yet, buy a whole tractor and part it out.
I bought this 4600 as you see it for $1200.
Sold the tires for $300, complete but stuck engine for $300, front bolster for $100 and think I have the rims and centers sold if the snow ever goes away for $175.
The rest went to my great pal Kenny in one of our infamous horse trades.
He's building a tractor out of it.

455C had two transmission options. 4 speed forward and reverse, torque convertor and electric shuttle, no PTO possible. 8 speeds forward and reverse with torque convertor with lock up, and electric shuttle with PTO. The sales brochure shows that 4 speed was standard in the tractor loader backhoe (TLB) version and the 8 speed with pto was standard in the tractor loader (TL) version, which usually had a Gannon 4 spool 3 point hitch option. I have a 445C TL with the 8 speed and PTO. It's a great transmission for loader and scraper work.

The parts site shows the 6x4 manual revering transmission was an option also, and if it has the manual reverser, then a trans driven (non-live) PTO could be added if it has all of the pieces inside the trans. If it came from the factory without a PTO then you don't know until you open it up what other parts you might need.
