Ford 661 vs 2000 power steering

Is there a reason or multiple reasons why
the power steering kit for a 2000 would not
directly work on a 661? Sounds like they
are the same tractor, yet there is 1500.00
difference between the two kits. Can
someone please explain why?

Are you comparing the PS kit for a 4 cylinder 2000 or a three cylinder 2000?

Remember that there are two 2000s.
The 4 cylinder one built from 62-64 and essentially identical to a 601.
There is also the three cylinder 2000 that was built from 65-75 which is a completely different machine.

Ohhhh, had no idea. Not sure if/ whether the kit specifies, but figure they would have to be quite different. Thank you! I'll look a little closer.

Sometimes a listing for apart will say what years of 2000 they are for without specifying how many cylinders. The 4 cylinder ag chassis 2000 that was the later version of the 601 series was made from 1962-1964. The 3 cylinder 2000 was made from 1965-1975. Also, if it says it is for the 2000 & 3000 then it is for the 3 cylinder 2000, as there was only ever one 3000 and it was a 3 cylinder and it was pretty much the same as the 3 cylinder 2000.
