Ford 3000 Diesel - Fuel Lift Pump

I have a '68 year model Ford 3000 diesel tractor that I have a few fuel system problems with.

First off the previous owner chopped the fuel system up from the tank to the lift pump so its mostly rubber fuel hose. Problem Ive been having is the fuel line doesn't get tight in the inlet of the lift pump. I found out the compression sleeve is too small and doesn't fit right. The metal hard line being used is a 1/4" hardline which is smaller than the hardline coming out of the outlet of the lift pump.

The lift pump is a Lucas CAV FP314A. I cant get this pump from any of the stores such as here or steiner they all have the inlet at 12 o'clock while mine is at 6 o'clock. I do need the lift pump but my main concern is the hard line leaking at the inlet side.

Does anyone here know what size fitting this pump takes?

I tried to find a reproduction metal fuel hardline but nothing exist for the Ford 3000 diesel tractors outside of from the injection pump to the injectors themselves.

The steel 5/16 brake line will work, cut the flare end off and use either a brass compression sleeve or the rubber grommet line sleeve like most Perkins six cylinder pumps use. I have repaired several Perkins lines with brake line, bent and cut as needed, the line nuts will thread right into your supply pump on either side.

Thanks for the reply that's what I was wondering. I found a NOS prebent line for $70 but no mention of what size it is. I can bend the hardline but wasn't sure what size the hardline was. Apparently there is a replacement one that is 1/4" which is what I currently have that's chopped off.

Need to do something though cause if I get the line and tube nuts along with the compression sleeves I am looking at $130 with tax and shipping. but I have to make sure its right. I should replace the lift pump as well as when I turned the pump upside down diesel came out of the weep hole but its been doing this for years with no problem. Ive just grown tired of the diesel dripping off the inlet side it just does a number on the rubber fuel hose I am forced to use.
